Typically, leadership has actually been defined as one's capability to affect or direct efficiently. However, real leadership is not about looking at your self in contrast to others. It has to do with looking at yourself and comparing or striving to get to where your inner success says you should be. You just get to compare yourself to yourself. Isn't that fun! Self management is your ability to affect yourself to your highest capacity. Effective self management naturally promotes external management where you influence others towards your objective.

The 2nd type is an excellent leader. There are individuals who have been put into a leadership types role of some kind that have respect for their team, their group has regard for them, they have things they require to achieve, and they accomplish those things. Rather efficient. Rather reliable. It is what it is.

A bit intimidating to say the least, however I have a long-lasting appreciation for the Martial Arts dating back to my first Bruce Lee motion picture. Without training, even natural some necessary management qualities leaders can go astray.

We will flicker and fade and wither, and soon go out. That can happen quite easily, and it can take place without our realising it until it may be too late.

Servant leaders are a different bread. They put individuals very first and themselves last. They quit their rights of self interest. Fantastic examples of Servant Leaders are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. John F. Kennedy and I am sure you can believe of more. The concern with being a Servant leader is people tend to mistake compassion for a weak point. And therefore a Servant leader gets challenge more is his/hers subordinates.
